Shajuanna Jordan the owner and founder of the Independent Professional Women's Basketball League is also the owner and founder of Ladies 1st Sports Agency. The agencies mission is to provide female athletes the opportunity to pursue playing professional sports with high quality representation. The creation of the IPWBL was to expand the opportunities for athletes to play semi-professionally and potentially gain the experience and or skills needed to take them professional.

The Austin Trailblazers were created in 2022 due to an expansion of the IPWBL into Central Texas. Our goal is to provide opportunities for female athletes in our community to play professionally. We also aim to provide a space for those who have come home after finishing a season overseas to stay in shape. Our players are from many walks of life, some have just graduated college while others have played basketball professionally. In our inaugural season we made it to  the championship game.
